Qualia Creative is propelled by the alchemic combination of two distinct creative forces: the sharp, finely honed creative intuition of David Gill and the colour-outside-the-lines creative lushness of Dave Smith. Once combined, the produced compound is highly explosive.

David Gill – Managing Director
B.Des (Hons)

Following the completion of his Honours in Graphic Design at RMIT University (1998), David brought together a team of designers to create his first studio, Aer Design. David was instrumental in building the foundations of this business and its subsequent development into the successful company it is today. However, after seven and a half years, David decided to leave Aer Design in 2006 to pursue a new creative vision. The result: Qualia Creative.

David is a multi-faceted designer who works over a wide spectrum of genres in a broad palette of mediums. David Gill’s strengths as a designer are in conceptual and strategic thinking, image making, typography, new media and the fine arts.

David also believes that what sets him apart from other creatives is a unique lateral disposition that provides him with the ability to perceive the world beyond established convention and to derive new possibilities from this insight.

 

Dave Smith – Creative Director
B.Des (Masters) 

Dave founded, developed and dismantled creative collective Studio Anybody. Now working with Qualia Creative, Dave focuses on the craft of image-making with an emphasis on fashion and arts with a tight focus on conceptually developed client collaborations.

 

Brett Hamm – Research and Copywriting
B.A (Social Theory)

Brett is Qualia Creative’s in-house research advisor and lead copywriter. Holding a degree from the University of Melbourne’s Ashworth Program for Social Theory, Brett provides critical research specifically tailored to, and informing, our clients branding needs.  

Brett is also Qualia Creatives’s lead copywriter. From taglines to promotional copy, Brett works hand-in-hand with Qualia Creative’s graphic design team to create distinctive brand voices which serve as a seamless extension of the client’s graphical brand identity.

Brett also publishes novels, short stories, essays and book reviews.

 

The Team

Qualia Creative also employs and consults with a variety of designers and creatives to pursue the most imaginative, engaging and communicative graphic designs. Being able to inform their combined years of top-level graphic design experience with unconventional and innovative artistic perspectives is a key ingredient in Qualia’s success.
